Thomas Ray Hayes passed away on May 17, 2020 at 68 years old.
Tom was born in Alton, IL on November 7, 1951 and grew up in Jerseyville, IL where he graduated from Jerseyville High School with the class of 1970. Tom retired from Olin in 2012 after 39 years of service.
He married the former Donna Roth on July 6, 1974 at Holy Ghost Catholic Church. Together they raised two children and recently celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary.
Tom was a devoted husband and father. Some of Tom’s best memories were playing softball, camping, and watching his kids sporting events. He was a simple man who enjoyed the simple things in life such as listening to a St. Louis Cardinal’s game on the radio or watching a John Wayne marathon. He was a member of the Jerseyville Moose and Elks Lodge and most recently his biggest joy in life was spending time with his first grandson.
He is survived by his wife: Donna Hayes; children: Cody Hayes, Maggie Hayes and partner William Conrey; grandson: Colten Hayes; siblings: Dulce Myers, Rusty Farmer and wife Becky, and George Farmer; and his mother: Mildred Davis and husband Harry Davis; sister-in-law Tina Jones and husband Kenny; brother-in-law Rick Roth; and countless nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his grandmother Edna Hayes and grandfather Russell Hayes.
Per his wishes, cremation rights will be accorded and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Long live 51Purp.
