Ruby Violet Skinner, age 104, passed away Thursday, January 12, 2023 in Jerseyville, Illinois. She was born November 13, 1918 to Louis and Florence Isringhausen in Greene County. Ruby had one sister, Hazel Gettings and six brothers, Marvin, Clyde, Wayne, Pearl, Floyd, and Glenn Isringhausen. She met William Leonard Skinner when she was 12 and they married on March 14, 1936 and they had four children; William (died in infancy), Donald (deceased), Ruth Ann Armsby (deceased), and Ronald. Leonard passed away March 9, 1992. Ruby and Leonard raised their family and farmed in Jersey County. Ruby enjoyed hand quilting, crocheting, playing cards, cooking and baking and holding babies. She looked forward to the annual Isringhausen family reunion each August.
Survivors include her son Ron, nine grandchildren: Kimberly Bourne (Rod), David Skinner (Sonja), Sheila Armsby (John), Debbie Toth (John), Joni Armsby (Tony, deceased), Kelli Santisteven (David), Jeffrey Armsby (Carrie), Lori Miller (Mark), and Scott Skinner (Kim), 22 great grandchildren: Avery, Mason, Reese, Justin, Logan, Mia, Mickey, Mindy, Derrick, Anthony, Nathan, Michael, Tommy, Alisha, Andrew, Gatlin, Kristin, Michael, Jared, Colin, Duncan and Gavin and 15 great great grandchildren: Marshall, Dominick, Mia, Logan, Lydia, Leo, Eric, Brooke, Lydia Ruth, Benjamin, Eleanor, Luka, Katherine, Olivia Ruth and Henry. Ruby had a remarkable memory for all her family’s birthdays and remembered to call or send birthday cards to family and friends. She loved her large extended family with its dozens of nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her granddaughter Kathy Van Driel and great grandchildren Johnny Lograsso, Jennifer Toth and Jana Skinner.
Ruby’s family wants to express the deepest of appreciation to her nieces Shirley Scott, Glenda Gray and Brenda Skinner for their loving devotion to her and for welcoming her into their home in recent months.
Services will be held at Fieldon United Church of Christ on Tuesday, January 17, 2023. Visitation 9 am - 11 am, funeral 11 am.
