Rex Stamper Obituary

Rex Stamper, 68, passed away on December 11, 2021 at his home with family by his side. He was born on December 20, 1952 to Joseph N. & Betty J. (Gleaves) Stamper, Sr in Alton but was raised in Dow, IL. He is a US Marine veteran. Rex loved Florida. It was his favorite place to be. He would often find work down there so that he could spend as much time there as possible. Sometimes he would be gone months or years. He loved to tell his nieces and nephews stories, especially about family history. Family was very important to him and he always tried to make it to family events. Rex is survived by his brothers: Joe (Brenda) Stamper, Jr. of Jerseyville and Lonnie Stamper of Carrollton; his sister-in-laws: Judy Stamper of Dow and Cindy Stamper of Jerseyville; his many nieces and nephews; and his great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings: Norman, Stanley, and Curt Stamper. A visitation will be held on Friday, December 17, 2021 from 9:00 am - 10:00 am at Alexander Funeral Home. Funeral will take place on Friday, December 17, 2021 at 10:00 am at Alexander Funeral Home. Pastor Adam Smith will officiate the service and burial will take place in Newbern Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family in care of the funeral home.
