Phyllis Jean Gansz (Schaaf) went peacefully in her sleep to be with the Lord on June 1, 2020 at 7:00 am. Phyllis was born on June 22, 1932 to the late William and Lucille Schaaf of Jerseyville. She had 5 siblings: Evelyn Randolph of Jerseyville; the late Edith Young of Jerseyville; Marie “Rhea” of Jerseyville; William “Bill” Schaaf of Brighton; and the late Ruth Ann Pike of Jerseyville. Phyllis was married to the late Elba Gansz of Jerseyville. She was a mother of 5 children: Elba “Doug” (wife Vickie) Gansz of Jerseyville; Cathy (husband Bill) Warren of Carrollton; Tina (husband Dana) Hoyt of Berlin, New Hampshire; William “Keith” (wife Sheila) Gansz of Benton Arkansas; Shari ( husband Delmas) Knight of Benton, Arkansas. She had 20 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Phyllis was a wonderful mother, friend and godly example. She was an excellent cook and seamstress. She was a member of Eastland Baptist Church in Jerseyville. Her life was a testimony to not only her children and grandchildren, but to all those who ever met her, if she ever met you, you can rest assured when she got home, your name went on her prayer list. She kept a spiral notebook of names and prayed for all the names therein. Even with her heavenly homecoming, Phyllis would want all to know of God’s love. She would want you all to know and have the same assurance that she held tight to the saving grace of her precious Savior. John 3:16. A private family graveside service was held at Oak Grove with Rev. John Gibson officiating. The family requests memorial contributions be made to “Children of Phyllis Gansz”.
