Omega Fay Steckel, 88, passed away on January 13, 2021 in Jerseyville. She was born on January 25, 1932 to James Lorraine & Esther Mahala (Duncan) Samuel in Sturgis, Kentucky. She married Harold Emerson Steckel on October 22, 1949 in Jerseyville. She was a homemaker and a member of Delhi Baptist Church for over 60 years. She taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, and hosted many missionaries and pastors in her home. She was the epitome of hospitality. She was known as a mighty prayer warrior, a great cook, and a hard worker both at home and at church. She also loved to read, she often said, "I can sit down right beside work and read". Her great desire was to witness to others about her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Visitors remember seeing her with her Bible open on her lap. She longed for heaven and on January 13, she woke up in Heaven. She is survived by her children: Sheila Bauser of Alton and Randall (Judy) Steckel of Columbus, Ohio; her grandchildren: Beth (James) Hooks, Cari (Philip) Golike, Jeremy (Elizabeth) Steckel, Jennifer (Jeff) Mengerink, Joshua (Jennifer) Steckel, and Jonathan Steckel; and 7 great-grandchildren; siblings: Patsy Meeden, Thomas “Allen” Ambrose, Roger Ambrose, and Larry Samuel. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son-in-law: David Bauser, siblings: Gerald Ambrose, Gloria Jo Ambrose, Jean Lowenstein, Dale Samuel, and Glenn Samuel. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 17, 2021 from 4:00 pm- 7:00 pm at Delhi Baptist Church. Funeral will be on Monday, January 18, 2021 at 10:00 am at Delhi Baptist Church. Pastor Ron Phillips will be officiating the service and burial will take place at Oak Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Delhi Baptist Church.
