Carolyn "Sue" Landon Obituary

Carolyn “Sue” (McClary) Landon, 84, passed away peacefully November 12, 2021. She was born on September 1, 1937 in St. Louis, Mo. to Edgar & Fern (Nickels) McClary. She married Howard Landon on November 26, 1960, in Jerseyville IL., he survives. She graduated from Jerseyville Community High School then attended Illinois State University. She taught piano for many years while raising her children in Northbrook. She volunteered and chaired many organizations including Northbrook PTA, Historical Society, and Women’s Club. Sue and Howard returned to Jerseyville in 1992 and established the Homeridge Bed & Breakfast. Sue was a member of the Presbyterian Church, PEO Women’s Group, CASA, and March of Dimes. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children: Craig Landon and Lynn (Rocky) Poglajen, both of Jerseyville; her grandchildren: Grant Currie of California, Neal Currie of Colorado, Caleb Currie of Edwardsville; step-grandchildren: Chase (Kacee), Connor, and Camryn Poglajen; step-great-grandchildren: Parker, Leighton, & Oliver; her siblings: Charles (Cindy) McClary of Texas, Larry (Donna) McClary of Jerseyville, Kathryn McClary-Smith of Dixon, Mo., Liz (Tom) Stanfill of Godfrey; and numerous special nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister: Idella Joann (Leonard) Martin, nephew: Edgar “Eddie” McClary, and niece: Denise Martin Cuevas. Visitation will be Wednesday, November 17, 2021 from 11:00 am – 12:00 (noon) at Alexander Funeral Home. Funeral will be held on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at 12:00 (noon) at Alexander Funeral Home. Pastor Jeff Ott will be officiating the service and burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Heart Association.
