Barbara E. Short

Barbara Ellen Short, 81, passed away on November 25, 2021 surrounded by her family. She was born on April 28, 1940 to Amiel & Josephine (Alben) Mayhall in Alton. Barb married Ronald P. Short on April 13, 1959 in Wood River and together they shared 62 years of marriage. She retired from the business office at Jersey Community Hospital. Barb is survived by her husband Ronald P. Short; her children: Debbie (Red) Frazier and Lynne (Ed) Morris; her grandchildren: Andrew (Maggie) Kuehnel, Danielle Baker, Tara (Josh) Hayes, Traci (Troy) Shaw, and Derrick (Kimmi) Brown; her great-grandchildren: Calvin Kuehnel, Landon Baker, Kaelyn Baker, Parker Hayes, Carson Hayes, Emily Shaw, Wesley Shaw, Waylon Brown, and Luke Brown; her siblings: Sonya (Gary) Whyte, Alyce (Buzz) Gibbs, Carole Mayhall, and Gene (Maggie) Mayhall. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother: Harold Phillips, and grandparents: John & Lucia Alben and James Henry & Laura Mayhall. A private family service was held. Burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Marines Toys for Tots.
